You would think someone would change the countdown clock.  I'm getting tired of shoveling snow and thinking of the Chutes and not knowiing how many days!

My predicted order of finish for this year...

1.  Almost Heaven  (Bernie and Aaron)
2.  Bad Decisions (Steve and Aaron)
3.  Eye to Eye (Troy and Andy)
4.  Camp Director (Bob and Trent)
5.  First Time, Long Time (Rick and Hunter)
6.  Boy Was He Pissed (Larry and Cody)

I just don't have the stomach for a bunch of witty ramblings for each boat.  It'll be tough enough to just to wake up and go to work every morning next week.

Have fun and let me know how I did.

And so it gets started...

Well this day finally got here.   Later today I will head to brother Bernie's house,  spend the night and get up real early to head up to Steves and meet up with the rest of the fellas.  I have to pick up pepperoni rolls, stop a Cabelas an pick up a few Erie dearies for Larry.  Everything else is packed and double checked.

A few thoughts...Hope everyone stays safe, catches the biggest fish they have ever caught,  has a great time with or without ice, and enjoys themselves as much as I do.  I am always grateful for this oppurtunity!

Hot Hamburg

Got to thinking about us leaving on Friday instead of Thursday and I realized that I will be able to get my hot hamburg sandwich this year.  I hope the old watering hole is still in operation.  Also, just a reminder for everyone to not forget their passports.  I would hate to leave someone at the border.
Troy got the beer order delivered to his house yesterday.  Richard better come through on the ice or there is going to be a lot of pissed off men drinking warm beer all week.  For those of you working this week, I wish I could make the time go quicker for you.  If it helps, I will be throwing my feet up in the recliner enough this week for all of us.  See ya in a few days fellas.

I am reminded again...

Sweet Baby Jesus on a Breadstick.  I can't even go to damn parade without being reminded I am not going to Canada.  In the middle of the parade Hunter Baker handed me an envelope.  Inside was a picture of the Chutes (beautiful picture by the way).  On the back were the words, "Wish you were here...".  Now, I am typically an optimist so normally I would have thought that a really nice gesture.  In this instance, however, I translated the words to be "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I can't believe you aren't going.  That must really suck.  I don't know how you will get through the week.  GOOD LUCK!"

60% chance of rain on Saturday.  I may root for 40 more percent.  A-holes.

Have a great time and please, somebody, let Trent reel a fish in after you set the hook.

Time to Start Getting Serious

Well, just finished double checking my rods and reels and tackle.  Looks like I have the stuff to be Fisherman of the Year this year.  I can't really see any competition from this year's group.  I hope everyone is getting as excited as I am for vacation.  I will see you all before you know it.  Take care and get those hooks sharpened.

Careful You Don't Piss Your Wife Off

Just wanted to give you fellow Chutes fisherman some friendly advise, be very careful how much you talk about the Canada trip this week in front of your wife.  If your wife is anything like mine after about the third time I say, "This time next week I will be...." your wife might snap like Larry's fishing line after Cody got it caught in the prop.
I would like everyone to take a little time to say a quick little prayer for Ryan.  I know this will be a hard week for Ryan to get through.  Don't worry Ryan, I am sure the fishing will suck and the beer will be warm.
It is official, one week to go, let's get this blog going.  By the way, does anyone know if Bernie is still rubbing cream on Larry's ass?

Longest damn week of the year!

Some thoughts from Morgantown. Still like a kid at Christmas.  Time moves really slow in this heat! Can't seem to get anyone stirred up on this blog.  Being impatient.  Too damn hot.  Looking at Aaron C's bait in the post by walleye killer is kind of a scary thought.  (Trent you're letting me down,  get those Ohio boys  stirred up ! )  Anyway,  here's waiting impatiently to point the truck west and pushing the gas!

good to be back

Well after a long time away it will be good to get back up north. looking forward to hanging out with everyone... well almost everyone... i won't mention any name (((fill in Larry's name here)))
And hopefully Aaron will be able to continue to hammer these big boys again.
I'm not sure i remember how to fish anymore but I'm sure you guys will be more than willing to give me some advice.. sure it will be wrong.... but advice nonetheless.. see you all in the 12th

It just hit me....

Like a ton of bricks that I am not going to Canada this year.  I will still suck it up to provide some pearls of wisdom to everyone going.  For Example:

If Larry is cooking burgers at the fire pit, he really enjoys it if you start a fire in the burn barrel.

Revisionist History...

You know what the great thing about this blog is? Everything stays right where it is....year after year. So I was looking back and found this little pre-trip gem from Big Fish. And if I forgot to mention it after last year's trip, "Suck it, Bernie."

Sincerely,
Ryan

 ONE HIT WONDERS
I'm a little confused on why Ryan is giving reviews on our boats. It's a little like listening to Keith Oberman give reviews on NFL players and their teams. Don't you think one should play the game first. There is however an old tale about him catching a nice walleye at the moose stand many moons ago. I believe this is my eleventh trip and I haven't seen any thing on his stringer that could be called outstanding. This fish I've heard about must have been caught in the previous century. He predicts a bad week for the Haines Brothers this year. Ryan knows as well as all others who have been there that a bad week is still a good week when you're at the Chutes with friends and family. Hope everyone gets a pot winner.

Same old-same old

Went to lake Erie to refine my skills.I think it will take several more trips for all the better I did. I think Larry and Aaron H. will be able to catch a few, but don't count on me or Cody unless there are sheephead and catfish in the Nemagosenda now. The weather was good and the beer was cold. I guess you can't have it all.

Is anyone even going fishing this year?

Never has there been so little talk about this trip 45 days out. Without me on the trip, you had better take a couple extra bags of popcorn since you won't have as much fish to fry in the evenings.

Meeting Date Has Been Set

Well, Texas Bob has decided to get the ball rolling on this year's trip. A meeting has been set for April 21st at 7:00. The meeting will take place at the house on the hill in Gilmore. All people planning on going this year are asked to attend. We have a lot of things to figure out for this year's trip. I am sure the bullshit will be flying especially since Baker will be there. I am looking forward to seeing every one. Please RSVP to this site ASAP that way I can let Shirley know how much food to prepare. Take care and lets get this site rolling a little bit.

Anyone Out There?

Just wondering if anyone has been checking the post from time to time? Looks like it could be a full camp this year. Sounds like the trip could be interesting with Baker back in action and with Hunter Showing his dad how to fish. I hope Richard is getting some ice cut, or it could be a long week of drinking warm beer.
Let's get this blog rolling again. It helps the time fly by a little quicker until we are able to get our lines wet. Take care boys.
