Fishing
Rods
Reels
Tackle Box
Net (1 per boat)
Depth Finder (1 per boat)
Minnow Bucket (1 per boat)
Worm Container (optional, Dinty Moore Beef Stew Cans work nice)
Stringer (Sometimes nice to have two per boat)
Needle Nosed Pliers, Clippers, Knife (Tether for your pliers, you know who you are)
Clothes
Couple pair of pants
Few pair of shorts
Underwear (one of the most frequently forgotten Items)
Socks (another frequently forgotten item)
A couple of towels
Two pair of shoes
Flip Flops or slippers for the Cabin
Fitted sheet for mattress (optional, and by optional, I mean Trent is the only person who does this)
Hat (At least one that has the ability to cover your ears)
Rain Suit (This is not optional and make it the last thing you put in your duffle bag)
Miscellaneous
Sunblock (In 2009 we were 10 feet from the sun for about 4 days)
Bug Spray (It better have deet or you are wasting your money)
Fillet Knife
Sunglasses (May want to consider an extra pair as well)
Clear safety glasses (great for the driver of the boat in the evenings, keeps the bugs out of your eyes)
Stick a golf or small towel in your tackle box.
Krazy glue – Great for patching up small cuts
Flashlight and batteries – The walk from one cabin to the other gets a lot longer in the dark.
Camera – Disposable or Digital – If digital, don’t forget the batteries
Any tobacco products you might use – Sweet lord, you don’t want to buy it up there.
Tips:
Line your duffel bag with a big trash bag before you put your clothes in it (It will rain on the way up or down the river) and put an extra one in there for on the way back if need be.
Wash your hands before taking your contacts out. (I found this out the hard way, not only does in burn like heck but bug spray is impossible to get off your contacts)
Bring some type of waterproof bag to keep your raingear in the boat (Also handy when you start peeling off layers)
Here! Present and accounted for. Unfortunately, I work about a million hours a week. As far as Connor goes, between Xbox and baseball, there is not much time for blogging. In fact, he may be going right from the ball diamond to Steve's to get in a car for Canada. I will try to get Connor logged in as a blogger, but we might all regret that. He tends to talk trash. One thing is for sure. When the time comes, we will be "all in".

ReplyDeleteI am at work full time most of the time and I manage to find quite a bit of time to add very little to this blog aside from tearing down everybody else's fishing skills in order to hide my own inadequacies.
Hell, Trent gets the summer off and he hasn't added much either so I guess you get a pass. See you this weekend. I think we are headed to Connor's game tonight.
Just checked... Wednesday night is his last game. We will pack up Thursday morning and be ready to go by Thursday afternoon. Can't wait!

ReplyDeleteI just talked to Big Fish. He's pissed. Says he lost his way or something. Maybe, it was the blog address. Says there will be hell to pay cause now he knows the address. I told him his lack of participation has dropped the Haines brothers out of contention in Ryans preseason poll. I guess tomorrows postings may have word from The Big Fish.

Last I heard Larry was looking for string for his beer-can telephone.
Larry won't start posting until Bernie starts posting for him. They share a brain so it isn't like you could tell a difference anyway.

This will tell you what happens front to back. Well...almost. If we leave Thursday night, we won't stay overnight anywhere. Two weeks from tonight, buddy. Make sure you have everything ready.
