I may not be ready on the 15th.

In years past, I was always as excited as Ryan is now, as our trip approached. This year for whatever reason I have seemed to loose touch with the concept of time. It was just yesterday when I realized the the 4th of July was this weekend. Don't get me wrong, I'm still looking forward to heading north, but I haven't made any preparations. I haven't gotten any gear together, I haven't even bought new line yet. I'm on vacation starting July 11th and was planning on using that time to go to Cabelas, buy what I need and start getting gear together and doing laundry. It is clear to me now that I'm needed to go out and work on Dad's man cave that week so my plan has been thrown out the window. Seems like 5 out of work guy's isn't enough to complete the project. If nothing else maybe it will silence all of the complaints from those 5 guys that I've been getting about my lack of help. 860 miles is a long way to have to listen to that noise.
But just know this, when I crawl out of the plane at Pine Lake the spirit and beer will fill me up. So you guys might want to make a plan on how to get my drunk ass up the hill.

Speaking of beer. It is now in my possession. 27 cases $460.00. Good news too, Miller Lite was on sale for $7.99 a case. Bud light and Coors light were $21.50 a case. Bad break for some of you guys, but life is good if your last name is Couts.

Dad please give Richard a call so we all leave on the same day.

See all of you in 2 weeks.

  1. You know, there was a day when, if someone asked me, who looks forward to this trip with child-like excitement as much as me, the answer would automatically be Troy. What has the world come to? My new mission is to get you back into a pace of life where you can get back to that level of excitement. Although, truth be told, who starts a construction project before the Canada trip that can't be completed over a weekend? You can't be fully to blame.

Step 1. Use this code at Gandermountain.com to get 20 dollars off an order of 150.00 or more. GME0630

Step 2. If step one is not an option, go to Gander Mountain on the strip and save some mileage and time.

Step 3. Tonight, go into your garage and setup a table. Just start placing things randomly on the table that will end up crossing the border. This will eventually lead you to taking an inventory of your tacklebox and make a list of what you need to purchase.

Step 4. Start setting the clothes you know for a fact you won't wear between now and July 14th off to the side and pile them up in a corner somewhere. It may be necessary at this point to instruct Patty that those clothes are indeed clean and they are not to be moved.

Step 5. Drink a beer. I can't be waiting until we get out of the plane at Pine Lake for you to start enjoying this trip.

Step 6. I have devised a plan on how to keep Gilmore and Monroe County out of our ears on the way up about not helping with the Man Cave. It will involve loud music and creative vehicle seating arrangements on the way up. I am going to need to ride with You, Andy, Connor, and Dad anyway after these boat spotlights.

This should get you on your way, if you need me to come over this weekend and show you what you need to do, let me know. I am going to go out Gilmore this weekend and tell Uncle Bob how nice everything looks and try to get back in his good graces. I will then tell Trent how crooked the block is because I don't care about his graces.

  2. Thanks Ryan, I'm starting to feel better already. I'm just saying that construction M-F 6am til 2pm doesn't work for me. I just hope that we get enough done the week before the trip that I'm out of the dog house.

  5. Troy, glad we got your mind right. Do you need me to send you some sort of checklist or demand a weekly status report? Those are always so much fun to write at work I thought you might like to do another here. :)
