WHAT TO BRING
Fishing
Rods
Reels
Tackle Box
Net (1 per boat)
Depth Finder (1 per boat)
Minnow Bucket (1 per boat)
Worm Container (optional, Dinty Moore Beef Stew Cans work nice)
Stringer (Sometimes nice to have two per boat)
Needle Nosed Pliers, Clippers, Knife (Tether for your pliers, you know who you are)
Clothes
Couple pair of pants
Few pair of shorts
Underwear (one of the most frequently forgotten Items)
Socks (another frequently forgotten item)
A couple of towels
Two pair of shoes
Flip Flops or slippers for the Cabin
Fitted sheet for mattress (optional, and by optional, I mean Trent is the only person who does this)
Hat (At least one that has the ability to cover your ears)
Rain Suit (This is not optional and make it the last thing you put in your duffle bag)
Miscellaneous
Sunblock (In 2009 we were 10 feet from the sun for about 4 days)
Bug Spray (It better have deet or you are wasting your money)
Fillet Knife
Sunglasses (May want to consider an extra pair as well)
Clear safety glasses (great for the driver of the boat in the evenings, keeps the bugs out of your eyes)
Stick a golf or small towel in your tackle box.
Krazy glue – Great for patching up small cuts
Flashlight and batteries – The walk from one cabin to the other gets a lot longer in the dark.
Camera – Disposable or Digital – If digital, don’t forget the batteries
Any tobacco products you might use – Sweet lord, you don’t want to buy it up there.
Tips:
Line your duffel bag with a big trash bag before you put your clothes in it (It will rain on the way up or down the river) and put an extra one in there for on the way back if need be.
Wash your hands before taking your contacts out. (I found this out the hard way, not only does in burn like heck but bug spray is impossible to get off your contacts)
Bring some type of waterproof bag to keep your raingear in the boat (Also handy when you start peeling off layers)
As much as it hurts me not to vote for myself and Andy, I just can't do it. He's just a kid, and he is not all that found of pulling up the anchor. So I will probably give a spot that is not producing a little longer than it deserves and we may not cover as much water as I would like. I have to vote for Trent and Ryan. I know Ryan does not need another boost to his oversized ego, and he's not going to get it from me. The reason I look for that boat to be number 1 is I believe Trent to be the best boat captain in camp. All Ryan has to do is not screw it up. On second thought it could go either way.
ReplyDeleteLet's get one thing straight - You can't make up for all the beatings you have been putting on him during this blog by kissing his ass once.
ReplyDeleteSecondly - Our boat is to be feared. At some point this week, I will hook my second 20 incher of the day and hand the rod to Trent and ask him if he wants to reel it in. Share the wealth. Thats how we do.
Thirdly - The boat I believe to be a dark horse is the S.S. Can't and Don't Care. If Aaron and Dad get it together...look out.
Holy shit, did someone just post a positive comment about me? I would have to say that my boat doesw have the best captain on the water. It is because of me that so many people have had successful trips in the past. I have always put my partner first, but since Ryan hasn't had anything nice to say about me, he is in a world of hurt.
ReplyDeleteNo credit is given to Bernie or Larry and they taught me everything they know. I don't stand a chance. Better make a stop at Long John Silvers.
ReplyDeleteThe New Guy
Truer words have never been spoken. You are in TROUBLE. We will teach you some things on the way up. Just know that anything those two have to say about any of us (other than Trent) are lies. Total lies.
ReplyDeleteBy day 2, Ryan and Trent's boat will be so GD messy, every fish caught will consume 15 minutes of fising time, that's going to set them back. Troy as written his boat out, who am I to disagree. Bernie/Aaron - I'm not one to judge someone I've never met, but Aaron, your f'd. Bob/Larry - if draggin ass and eriedearies catches fish, they are my dark horse. And yes, Dad and I are the favorite. He's going to be eager to get back to cathing double-digit fish in a day (yeah, it could mean 10 inches or 10 fish, either way) and I'm looking to restore my tarnished legacy. Beware of the cleanest boat on the water, here we come!
ReplyDeleteYou say mess, I say I don't have to dig in my tackle box to find a jig. I will say our boat will be the most "relaxed". How do you fish if you spend half the time cleaning your boat. The worms will probably be so damn good Larry and Bernie will probably take care of our boat anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will take a day or two to break brother Aaron in . The problem will be getting him to throw the fish back. I'm sure he will want to string every fish. Larry taught me the walleye rule my first year there. If you string them, you must clean them. Who wants to skin 25 to 30 fish every day.
