Added motivation...
Thanks to Troy's inspiration, I have decided to get serious about getting back down to fighting weight.
So I propose this...Everybody get their starting weight and keep track of it between now and July 15th. On July 15th the person who loses the biggest percentage of their original body weight gets their lunch/dinner paid for at either at Upper Deck or Red Pine depending on when we leave. Honor system of course.

Hey guys thanks for posting your blog is great! If you dont mind could you set my expectations again? Is the cabin run down? I was there after the tornado, and it was June of 1992. What other things have happened to the cabin since? Also where are you guys staying and when? We are going to the Chutes July 2-9.
ReplyDeleteI hate to ask but what do you usually use for bait? Are there minnow/shiners that we can catch in a minnow trap? I think we used spoons and lots of top water. Any help would be much appreciated. Where are you guys from?
We are staying at the Chutes July 16-23. Most of us are originally from Gnadenhutten, OH. We are a little scattered out these days but we still leave from Gnaden. We concentrate mostly on the Walleye but if you are going after pike, Silver Spoons, jerk baits and long stick baits are the ticket for big pike.
ReplyDeleteAs for the cabin, it isn't 1992, but it isn't falling in on itself either. It could use some work, could use a new roof, new eaves, new screens in the windows (take some with you). We have 14 people going so we will use the back cabin as well. We have already requested the water to be re-hooked up. Pack light, the Tractor to get the stuff up the hill may not be there. Prepare for extra cooler space there is not a fridge in the back cabin anymore. There is a place to catch minnows but you may want to check on the legality of minnow traps before you head out. I am not sure of the laws for that these days. You will learn a lot about our trip as the weeks go by here and you can believe almost half of it. :) Please stop by the blog when you return to let us know how you did.
I'm in, but Andy said he would pass.

ReplyDeleteTo Walleye Killer: I'm not entering any contest on the honor system with anyone who would trade beer for walleye to keep from losing a tournamnet.
ReplyDeleteTo Frank: Our group is,with one exception, from Ohio-Tuscarawas and Monroe counties. The odd guy is from Morgantown,WV. We use jigs with twister tails and a chunk of worm for walleye or troll the minnow shaped plugs,Rapalas, Wally divers, etc. We don't put a lot of effort into pike fishing ,but sometimes when the walleye are "off", we hit the weeds with spoons. Hope you have a good trip. Leave a few for us. We have to feed 14 guys.
