I Was Told There Would Be No Math.....

So here is how this breaks down....nerd-like.

Last year there were 10 people on the trip. All the cargo in Uncle Bob's truck. Uncle Bob's Truck with a cap has an approximate area of 180 cubic feet. That averages out to 18 cubic feet per person.

18 cubic feet per person x 14 people is 252 cubic feet of cargo room we will need.

The cargo area of each truck is as follows.

Bobs with Cap - 180 cu ft
Larry's with Cap - 150 cu ft
Steve's with Tonneau Cover - 60 cu ft.

If we assume 16 inches from the floor of the bed to the bottom of the bunk in Bobs Truck, that brings his cargo room down to 62 cu ft.

If we assume the same for Larry's Truck, that brings his cargo room down to 52 cu ft.

If we put the bed in Bob's truck we are going to be WAY short on cargo room. If we put the bed in Larry's truck, we are are still going to be short by 20 cubic feet or to put it in terms we can all understand, 7 cases of beer.

Something to consider for whenever the camp director schedules the meeting. (Not the first weekend in April, I will be in DC. ) :0)

Do I need to bring a calculator for the trip, as you have this mapped out exactly to the square inch? Also, it sounds as if I better plan on reversible pants so that I only need to take half as many clothes.

  2. Also, a belated thank you to Ryan for the friendly welcome he gave to me and my son (Harris) a few weeks ago. It sounds like this will be a great vacation. Will it be alright if I drink a few beers while I am there?

  3. J.J., you will have no problem finding a beer on this trip. Unfortunately for you, there aren't any punch bowls at the Chutes.

  4. OK...after reading that swipe at me on the last post, I now know that I will need to step up my game to hang with this group. Also, I will commence with bartender training for my son Harris. My wife might not understand, but Harris will have to learn the nuances of proper serving technique. Can't wait for July.

  5. JJ, that was me (Ryan) who did the math. You can't blame Troy for that craziness. We put a jar by the cooler and everytime you want a beer you just put a dollar in the jar. Honor system...You'll be able to tell because there won't be any dollars in the jar but everyone will have a beer. Yeah, you may want to bring some Tide. Sounds like these guys are going to make us do laundry while we are up there.

  6. Yeah, wait. Hold on a second. Sounds like a story may need to be shared at the meeting. Punch bowl?

  7. I don"t know why we are sweeting having enough room on this trip. Our beer formula has always been 3.5 cases per person. That is 35 cases of beer counting only the adults. Why don't we cut it down to 2.75 cases each. That is still almost 10 beers each per day. Not to mention the hard liqure. You light weights don't make since after 6 beers anyway.

JJ this is Troy. That was Ryan who was breaking down the math not me. I'm not that smart.

  9. I'll take my car by myself if we are going to start talking about taking 6 boat seats and cutting back on the beer. As a matter of fact, all of this is starting to wear on me. I may just fly into Foleyet Intl. Airport and meet you guys at Red Pine.
