New Equipment Functions Properly

Tried out my new rods and reels on Friday. Caught 4 Largemouth. I am not sure of the drag function of my new reels. The fish weren't trying very hard once they got hooked in that cold water.

My wife made me buy a new rainsuit on Saturday. I protested but she insisted. I also bought new sunglasses but those broke Saturday night so I sold them to Larry for 25 cents. He then sold them to Cody for 3.00 who then sold them to Bob for 5. The Grandapple doesn't fall far from the tree.

16 more Fridays. I will be bringing one bag this year for my clothes, boat cushion, tacklebox, rainsuit, shoes, etc. The only thing that won't be in that bag will be my rods.....oh, my rods and the ass whoopin' I plan to put on all of you. That will require it's own protective case.

One last item of note, The Camp Director assured me on Saturday that all the arrangements have been made for Travel. I am not any more convinced than I was before Saturday. He was a few Black Velvets and Water in by the time he made this claim. :)

  1. I'm glad to hear you are getting some practice in. You just might put a whoopin on someone this year..I don't know about the "all of you" part of your prognostication. (My that's a big word from a poor boy from West Virginia!) I've done a little fishing and maybe caught one or two. I'll keep trying. I don't know if I'll ever be in your company of anglers, but I'll keep practicing. Do yo think maybe my Zebco 33 needs new line. It still has about 15 yard of the original 15lb line. That should be good..right?

By the way...do you think Texas Bob will part with those sun glasses?

  2. Aaron- you were in my boat last year when I had you catching all those nice fish. that's why Ryan feels so confident this year. I guess I'll be doing the driving. You were a quicker study than Larry though. I had him on top of fish for 3 days , yet he was just tickled to catch a perch.
I suspect you will be okay, cause your with Birney and he is totally dedicated to the sport.( I know- he really could care less) By the way, is he in or out, and did he loose his internet privileges/?

  3. Aaron - I keep hearing stories about your year last year but you never know what to believe. I don't think Bob even knows those sunglasses are broken so you probably won't be able to get those from him for under 10 bucks.

Fishfinder - Larry said that Bernie said he is tired of being talked about on this blog and if it happened any more he was, and I quote, "Gonna take any of those Couts boys out into the yard." I nominate Troy. Also, you are part of the reason I am so confident about this year's trip. My last boat captain was kind of selfish.

  4. Fishfinder, you are a great guide and I was honored to have you net the few fish I caught, but I must remind you of the whuppin you put on me at the Fish Market. Do you suppose Larry was sand baggin so that he could complain and beg to fish with Bernie. (Drink beer would be more like it..He wouldn't have to fish through the cooler to avoid Miller Lite.) Although, if my memory serves me right, Larry doesn't need a reason to complain.

I haven't talked to Bernie in a while, but the last I heard Larry let the fire go out and the smoke signals don't get out of Monroe County. I don't know about the internet connection.

Ryan, I'm still practicing, went out today and did ok. Zebco got jambed up again and I lost another 5 yard and my best hook and last washer sinker. I'll have to use a nut and a dull hook tomorrow, if it doesnt rain. I think I have one night crawler left. Wish me luck!
